Prospective Students
Uniquely James Madison College
James Madison College, Michigan State University, offers sophisticated multidisciplinary programs in the social sciences founded on a model of liberal education and designed to prepare students for law school, graduate study, decision-making roles in public and private enterprise, and careers in government, media, politics, social services, public administration, education, business and industry, and the foreign service. Students examine how public policy problems are identified, analyzed, and resolved in the United States and globally. It is an unusual, exciting, innovative place where students and scholars examine and debate important public affairs issues.
Madison students benefit from the unique combination of a small college environment and the rich diversity of a major research university. All first-year students and many upper-level students live in Case Hall. Case Hall is the locus of activity at James Madison College and houses all faculty and staff offices, as well as classrooms. This residential setting allows close interaction with faculty and fellow students with similar academic interests and provides extended opportunities for debate and discussion outside the classroom. In addition to student leadership opportunities, sports competition, and social events, Madison regularly offers related academic and cultural programs, speakers, and other extracurricular activities.
